ISO

Following the idea to share the right ISO for the right user we want to supply some indications that help users on choosing the ISO for their needs.

We use these labels in the following ISOs description with these meanings:

Label	Description
newbie	Ideal for new users and/or non-developers that don't need a compiler.
student	Ideal for students that are searching for school stuff.
developer	Ideal for developers that need a compiler and includes.
tester	Ideal for users that want to help Macaroni with testing.
funtoo	Ideal for Funtoo/Gentoo users want to have Portage metadata on Macaroni.
services	Ideal for System Engineers, Developers and users who want to use Macaroni to set up services.
nerd-herd	Not for weak of heart. Need good preparation in computer science or advanced experience. Inspired by the Chuck Series.

Choose your ISO

At the moment, all our ISOs are based on Phoenix release. If you want to install Macaroni OS on your computer and/or laptop you need to use the Release ISOs. The weekly ISOs are for testing.

All of the ISOs use Calamares as Installer.

The password of the macaroni user is macaroni.

Macaroni Funtoo Phoenix Gnome Live Wayland	newbie student tester	Experimental ISO with different tools for Office/School/Graphic that could be installed too. GDM has Wayland support enabled by default and Waydroid ready to install the container in a specific partition.
Macaroni Funtoo Phoenix XFCE	newbie student	An XFCE Desktop ISO to install Macaroni XFCE with Calamares. Ideal for XFCE fans and for old computers.
Macaroni Funtoo Phoenix LXQt	newbie student	An LXQt Desktop ISO to install Macaroni LXQt DE with Calamares. Ideal for LXQt fans and for old computers.
Macaroni Funtoo Phoenix KDE	newbie student tester	A KDE Desktop ISO to install Macaroni KDE DE with Calamares. KDE at the moment by default supplies experimental Wayland integration that could be unstable with some video cards. Just use X11 mode in this case.
Macaroni Funtoo Phoenix i3	nerd-herd	An i3 Desktop ISO to install Macaroni i3 DE with XFCE Terminal through the Calamares installer. Ideal for i3 fans and for old computers.
Macaroni Funtoo Phoenix Gnome Devel	funtoo developer student nerd-herd	A minimal Gnome Desktop ISO where the subsets portage and devel are enabled.
Macaroni Funtoo Phoenix KDE Devel	tester funtoo developer student nerd-herd	A KDE Desktop ISO to install Macaroni KDE DE with Calamares and with subsets portage and devel. KDE at the moment by default supplies experimental Wayland integration that could be unstable with some video cards. Just use X11 mode in this case.

Macaroni Funtoo Phoenix Server Devel	services funtoo developer nerd-herd	Macaroni Server release with the subsets `portage` and `devel` enabled. Installing needed packages can be done with Portage.

Our latest release is 24.08.01 and it uses kernel 5.10.225 for Server ISOs and 6.1.109 for the others.
